what pressure do you store hydrogen at? and how to diy at home?
i want to know what pressure you store hydrogen at.
and is there a way to make hydrogen at home and store it in tanks?
Cylinder pressures are dependent upon the strength of the cylinder itself. Common pressures would be 2000 psi to 5000 psi, again, dependent on the strength of the cylinder. A better way to have more, in terms of volume, at a lower pressure would be to have liquid hydrogen. Liquid hydrogen is a bit out of reach for home manufacture, not to mention extremely dangerous.
For home production, electrolysis would be the easiest way. However, the efficiency of the process is very poor. Unless you have thousands of watts of solar panel capacity at your disposal, the cost is prohibitive for home manufacture. Getting it compressed is another issue. IF you could do it economically, the system would have to be absolutely free of any air. Any air in the hydrogen makes it combustion ready, and even more dangerous. Your best bet for this fuel is to get it from a welding supply facility, or a company, such as AirGas, that produces these gases commercially. If you want it for what I am going to assume that you want it for, then liquid hydrogen would be the best bet, but extremely dangerous to handle since the extreme cold of it makes it so dangerous.
