How to emboss or stamp leather?
I just bought my son a leather bikers wallet complete with chain. My son wants some sort of design embossed on the front of the wallet. I was curious as to how I could do this. I don’t want a painted emboss, with embossing power and what not.
I want to make an impression in the leather, so that you feel the emboss. He wants a kind of west coast chopper cross.
How would I go about this. Is it as simple as having a cookie cutter and slamming it with a rubber mallet? Or do I need a heating tool such as a wood burning tool.
Any tips would be helpful or if you have links which would assist me.

The leather has been finished so I don’t think you can without ruining it.
On unfinished leather you use leather tools to create different designs. You can buy designs and tools at any leather store or go online at tandyleather.com
